In relation to the particular query raised, the attached table, provided to my Department by the NTPF, shows the number of children on outpatient and inpatient/day case orthopaedic waiting lists, by hospital at the end of each quarter in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. The figures include patients on the active and suspended waiting lists.

The NTPF has advised that the health system does not collect the data necessary to calculate average wait times. In particular, the time to treatment of patients who have already received their care is not collected. The NTPF collects data on patients currently on the waiting list and the average time that these patients have been waiting is provided here.

The number of claims before the CervicalCheck Tribunal

Twenty-six [26] claims (of which two were combined) have been lodged with the

Tribunal since March 2021.

Twenty [20] claims were lodged by women and six [6] claims were lodged by or on behalf of the statutory dependants of women.

The number of claims resolved by the Tribunal

All twenty-six [26] claims made to the Tribunal have now been processed.

Eighteen [18] claims have been resolved on the basis of a settlement reached between the parties.

Seven [7] cases were resolved on the basis of a Notification issued pursuant to s. 12 of the CervicalCheck Tribunal Act, 2019. This means that the claimants were notified by the Tribunal that it was not in a position to hear and determine the claim for want of either respondent or third-party consent in circumstances where such consent was either not forthcoming or had been withdrawn.

One [1] case was struck out when an ‘Unless Order’ came into effect.

The timeframe for completion of the Tribunal's work

The Tribunal has advised as of 31 July 2023 that all claims have been processed and that the core statutory function of the Tribunal is now complete. The Tribunal is in the process of completing the required administrative work under the CervicalCheck Tribunal Act 2019.

Costs

Information on costs of the Tribunal up to 21 August 2023 was furnished to the Deputy further to Question No. 743 of 13 July 2023, by letter of 13 September 2023.  Only minimal additional administrative costs have been incurred in the meantime.
