Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Justice the number of attempted murder and serious assault causing harm cases reported to gardaí within all of the Cork, Galway Waterford, Kilkenny and Limerick divisions in the years of 2020 and to date in 2023, by division, in tabular form. View answerAs the Deputy will be aware, the Central Statistics Office (CSO), as the national statistical agency, is responsible for the compilation and publication of all crime statistics.
The CSO produces these statistics using data recorded on An Garda Síochána’s PULSE system and makes regular releases, under reservation, in relation to various crime statistics. The most recent statistics were released on 25 September 2023, providing stats for Recorded Crime for Quarter 2 (Q2) 2023. The CSO also continues to work with An Garda Síochána to address quality issues in the underlying sources used to compile the statistics.
