My Department funds a number of grant schemes, administered by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to support homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of their properties. SEAI grants for homeowners are focused towards those measures which will be most effective in reducing energy use and our carbon emissions.

Grant supports for wood pellet stoves are not available under the SEAI residential energy upgrade schemes. However, grant support is available for installing heat pumps in place of fossil fuel heating systems. The package of supports launched by Government in February 2022 to make it easier and more affordable for homeowners to undertake home energy upgrades included grants of up to €10,500 to support the installation of a heat pump.

There are other grants and schemes available from Government that could be of assistance where there is an urgent need for home repairs. This includes the Department of Social Protection (DSP) Urgent Needs Payment available through the Community Welfare Service at local DSP offices.
