Deputy Sorca Clarke asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform if his attention has been drawn to media reports regarding serious issues with respect to surveillance equipment being procured by his Department (details supplied); if he is satisfied that use of this technology has been subject to due consideration, with reference to the threats and human rights’ abuses which have been identified in said media reports; what steps he will take in light of previous concerns being brought to the OPW regarding the use of this technology in the Irish context; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
