Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for Transport to give a complete overview of the process that the US military must follow when moving personnel through Irish Airports on US Military chartered flights and to provide any/all records of US personnel transiting through Irish airports since January 2022 [50105/23]
View answerUnder the Air Navigation (Carriage of Munitions of War, Weapons and Dangerous Goods) Orders 1973 and 1989, the carriage of munitions of war on civil aircraft in Irish sovereign territory is prohibited, unless an exemption to do so is granted by the Minister for Transport. The Orders relate to the carriage of “munitions of war” and do not impose any requirement on aircraft operators regarding the transportation of military personnel. As such, my Department does not request information from civil air operators on the number of troops/passengers on board aircraft that transit Irish airports.
