My Department uses online advertising as one of the many tools at its disposal to inform citizens of its programmes of work, including public consultations and major events. Social media has become increasingly important in recent years and my Department is conscious that many citizens rely on online platforms to keep apprised of current events.

I am advised, that digital advertising spend on the platforms to which the Deputy refers for the years 2021 and 2022, and to date in 2023, is €33,147. As both platforms are owned by one parent company, figures can only be provided in aggregate.

At all times value for money is a critical consideration.

Regarding bodies and agencies under my Department’s remit, these matters are operational matters for the agencies themselves.
