My Department in its current configuration was established in September 2020.

From time to time, my Department commissions experts to provide technical reports or advice on specific issues. While the providers of these services may describe themselves as consultants, their work is not classified as consultancy services and is not funded from my Department's Administrative Budget.

I wish to advise the Deputy that the details of the reports commissioned or funded by my Department that are designated as not for external publication in the period since then are outlined in the table below.

My Department uses online advertising as one of the many tools at its disposal to inform citizens of its programmes of work, including public consultations and major events. Social media has become increasingly important in recent years and my Department is conscious that many citizens rely on online platforms to keep apprised of current events.

I am advised, that digital advertising spend on the platform to which the Deputy refers for the years 2021 and 2022, and to date in 2023, is €1,887.

At all times value for money is a critical consideration.

Regarding bodies and agencies under my Department’s remit, these matters are operational matters for the agencies themselves.
