Written answers

The Climate Change Advisory Council (CCAC) is a statutory body whose mission is to provide independent, evidence-based advice and recommendations on policy to Government, and this includes periodic reports, as well as its annual report the most recent of which was published in July 2023. As Taoiseach, I have also received correspondence from the Chair of the CCAC in relation to particular policy matters.

In addition officials from the Department of the Taoiseach are in regular contact with the CCAC and its secretariat. This includes meetings annually between the Chair of the CCAC and the Secretary General and other officials from the Department, as well as regular engagement between the Council and officials from the Climate Action Unit in the Department, including through quarterly briefing meetings, the most recent of which took place on 19 December 2023.
