Deputy Patricia Ryan asked the Minister for Housing; Local Government and Heritage if the responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of common green/grass areas in council/local authority estates comes under the remit of the local authority/county council; if not, if it is the responsibility of the various residents’ associations. Local authorities are responsible under the Housing Acts for the management and maintenance of their housing stock and the management of their estates, which includes facilitating tenants’ participation in estate management.
