Deputy Alan Dillon asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if he will provide details of the grounds on which septic tank grants will not be provided to those outside a designated area of greatest environmental priority; and if he will make a statement on the matter. There are three grant schemes for domestic waste water treatment systems (DWWTS) available to householders. The purpose of the grants is to provide financial assistance to households for works to defective septic tanks to protect human health and the environment. All three grants are focused on the areas of greatest environmental priority and are not general in application.
