In relation to the particular query raised, the National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) has advised my department that the number of cataract treatments arranged by them in the last 12 months are 7,249 with 3,775 outsourced and 3,474 insourced. Regarding treatments undertaken directly by the HSE, the extent to which surgery is readily available and the plans to extend this service, I have asked the HSE to respond to the Deputy directly as soon as possible on these queries.
