Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health to clarify the number of redundancies, or so called ‘exit-packages’, that have been paid to staff or personnel at any level of seniority in his Department, or in any agency or body under the aegis of his Department, from 2018 to date; the value of each and the total value, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As provided for in the DPENDR Instructions to HR Managers on Ministerial Appointments, Severance and redundancy payments made by the Department of Health have been made to Ministerial personal staff who have not been appointed by way of secondment or leave of absence from other employments and who, therefore, have no job to which they are entitled to return to on cessation of office of the relevant Minister or Minister of State.
