45. Deputy Marian Harkin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs for an update on the reinstatement of Villa Spada as Ireland’s Embassy to the Holy See; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [15139/24]
View answerThe Department of Foreign Affairs places a lot of value and importance on our ownership of Villa Spada. I am proud that such an historic building is home to our Embassy to Italy and of course our Embassy to the Holy See before then. Villa Spada provides an excellent venue for the range of promotional events that the Ambassador of Ireland to Italy hosts to showcase the strong cultural and historical connections between Ireland and Italy. The Government is not considering repurposing the Villa Spada at the present time.
