The Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS) is one of a number of measures designed to rejuvenate rural towns and villages throughout Ireland. Since its launch in 2016, over €177 million has been allocated to almost 1,800 projects supporting towns and villages across the country.

At the end of April I was delighted to confirm details of the 82 projects that were successful in being awarded funding under the 2023 Scheme. In total, €20.4 million has now been allocated to these projects, and I look forward to seeing all the successful projects coming to fruition over the coming years.

Since the inception of the Scheme, Meath County Council has been allocated funding of almost €7 million for 73 projects. The most recent announcement saw Meath County Council allocated more than €1.1 million for 4 project. Details of approved projects are available on my Department's website.

Local authorities have 18 months to deliver projects allocated funding under the 2023 Scheme, and in recognition of the difficulties in delivering large scale projects and projects located on offshore islands an elongated time frame of 24 months was introduced for projects allocated over €250,000 in funding and those on the islands.

I expect to open the next tranche of the Scheme for applications later this year.
