156. Deputy Noel Grealish asked the Minister for Health if the general scheme of proposed new legislation on raising the legal age for smoking will be published for public consultation and considered by the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Health. [23039/24]

I received Cabinet approval on 14 May to draft a Bill to raise the minimum legal age of sale of tobacco products to 21. I intend that this important public health measure will be enacted as soon as possible subject to the standard requirements of the legislative process.
