Deputy Clare Daly asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection her plans to deal with the discrimination suffered by women who are excluded from the contributory State pension because they had to leave the workforce due to the marriage bar, even though they had more than ten years' pay-related social insurance contributions in their later working life, which would entitle them to this pension in their own right, but which is denied to them because they worked prior to their marriage.
