Members and staff in the Houses of the Oireachtas Service are being encouraged to take part in the National Transport Authority's Marchathon step challenge.
Marchathon is a team step challenge open to staff and students of workplaces and third level campuses that are partners of the Smarter Travel programme.
From 3 March to 30 March, teams of Oireachtas staff and political staff will log their steps in an effort to top the National Transport Authority's Active Travel Logger leaderboards while becoming more active.
Marchathon launch event in the Ceann Comhairle’s Private Dining Room
Coordinated by the Oireachtas Green Team, a launch event was held in the Ceann Comhairle’s Private Dining Room on 27 February with staff in attendance.
The aim of the initiative is for staff to commute more sustainably and be more active throughout March. Past participants have reported that Marchathon motivated them to become more active and incorporate more walking into their daily routine.
