Culture, Heritage & Gaeltacht Committee to discuss sexual harassment in arts & culture sector

The Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will discuss sexual harassment in the arts and culture sector when it meets with representatives from the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, The Arts Council and Irish Equity Group tomorrow, Thursday, 23 November 2017.

Cathaoirleach of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht Peadar Tóibín TD said: “There have been a number of reports and allegations of sexual harassment with in the arts and culture sector. It is important that there are procedures and conditions in place to ensure workers within the sector do not have to tolerate harassment and that all allegations are dealt with in a prompt and comprehensive manner. Tomorrow, we will discuss the issue of sexual harassment in the arts and culture sector with particular focus on the policies, provisions, structures and procedures in place and required to address this issue.”

This meeting will start at 2.30pm, tomorrow, 23 November 2017 in Committee Room 1, Leinster House. Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.
