Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement to hear from Good Friday Agreement Architect Mark Durkan

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement chaired by Deputy Fergus O'Dowd will meet on Thursday September 29th to resume its series of meetings with the architects of the Good Friday Agreement.

Mark Durkan will address the meeting which will take place in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House between 13:30-16:30.

Mr Durkan is a former leader of the SDLP and a former Deputy First Minister for Northern Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Fergus O’Dowd said: “We look forward to resuming our series of meetings with Architects of the Good Friday Agreement as we approach the 25th year anniversary.”

“Our meeting with Mr Durkan is an important and timely opportunity to discuss the significant achievements of his involvement in the Good Friday Agreement and the Peace Process and to reflect on the progress that Northern Ireland has made since the Agreement was signed.”

The Committee will continue to meet with a range of people involved in the negotiations, including the politicians involved, diplomats and civil servants in the coming term.
