7 Oct 2024, 15:58

The Joint Committee on Justice chaired by Deputy Jim O’Callaghan will meet tomorrow, Tuesday 8th October 2024 at 4pm in Committee Room 1. The Committee will engage with Dr Sharon Lambert, Senior Lecturer in Applied Psychology at University College Cork.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach, Jim O’Callaghan TD said “Our meeting tomorrow focuses on the factors that contribute to the rates of violence and criminality in Ireland.

“Amongst the wide-ranging aspects of this, the Committee will look at the prevalence of gender based violence, community violence, domestic violence and political violence. We look forward to hearing from Dr Sharon Lambert from UCC to help us gain insight into what drives this violence. Dr Lambert and UCC have engaged in a number of research projects in the psychology of violence.”

The meeting can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
