24 Jun 2024, 15:54

The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence are due to meet on Tuesday June 25th to discuss the work of the UCD Ukraine Trauma Project organisation.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House from 15:15 to 18:15.

The following representatives of the UCD Ukraine Trauma Project are due to appear:

• Professor Gerard Bury,
• Professor Christopher Fitzpatrick,
• Mr. Shane Leahy

Speaking in advance of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Charles Flanagan said, "We are looking forward to discussing the important work of the UCD Ukraine Trauma Project."

“The UCD Ukraine Trauma Project has delivered around five hundred emergency medical kits and four training programmes in Ukraine since the end of 2022. This has been achieved through former and serving volunteer doctors and paramedic staff from Ireland training to be able to equip hundreds of Ukrainian health staff."

“The organisation has done invaluable work and has raised vital funds which go towards training and appropriately equipping staff, medical help and training kits. We look forward to hearing an update on their work and their future plans as the war currently shows no signs of abating.”
