Vol. 3 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - MAILS CONTRACT.

asked the Postmaster-General when the present contract for the conveyance of mails between Dun Laoghaire and Holyhead expires, and if it is proposed in the setting of any new contract to give facilities to any Irish Steamship Company that may be formed for that purpose?

The present contract for the conveyance of mails between Dun Laoghaire and Holyhead will not expire until the 27th November, 1940. In the arrangement of a new contract the tender of any Irish Steamship Company that may be in a position to undertake the service will, I have no doubt, receive sympathetic consideration.

Have I heard the Minister aright in saying that the contract will not expire until 1940?

That is correct.

Will the Minister undertake to be present on the date when the contract expires?

No reply was given.
