Vol. 3 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - MAIL SERVICE TO NORTH WALL

asked the Postmaster-General if it were not an implied condition in the granting of the mail contract to the London and North Western Railway of England that its service to the North Wall should be continued as before, and if he will make representations to the Railway Company that this service be therefore restored for the convenience of the passengers.

I am not aware of any condition in connection with the Dun Laoghaire-Holyhead mail contract which by implication or otherwise would require the then existing service to the North Wall to be maintained. The conveyance of mails by the North Wall route is not provided for under contract, and in the circumstances the Post Office is not in a position to press the London, Midland, and Scottish Railway Company as regards the matter.
