asked the Minster for Defence whether he is aware that in the case of a young man named William Smith, arrested on March 17th, at his own home at Drumree, Co. Meath, and detained in Trim Military Barracks, four representative citizens of the district gave the I.O. at Trim very strong recommendations on his behalf, and that two of them gave guarantees that the prisoner had no association with the forces opposed to the Government; what charge, if any, will be preferred against him; and whether, failing a trial, the Minister will consider the early release of this man.
