Vol. 3 No. 5

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NATIONAL TEACHER'S ARREST.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the reasons for the arrest of Mr. James O'Donnell, National Teacher of Kildarragh School, Creeslough, Co Donegal; whether any charge has been formulated against him; whether he has been brought to trial; if so, was he given a full opportunity to employ legal assistance and call witnesses, and can the Minister state what was the result of the trial; if he has not yet been charged, is it the intention of the military authorities to bring him to trial or release him?

I am in the same position in regard to this matter. Enquiries are being made, but they have not yet been completed. When they are completed the Deputy will be communicated with.
