[WRITTEN ANSWERS.] - PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a sum of £38 6s. 6d. is due to Mr. John Corbett, of Ballisodare, Co. Sligo, for the billeting of National Troops during October, November and December last; that this amount has been duly certified by the local Military Officers; that several applications have been made for payment; and will he see that this claim receives immediate attention; further, to ask the Minister if he is aware that the following accounts are due to persons in the Ballisodare-Collooney District, viz., Mrs. Mullen, £112; Mrs. Noble, £111; Mrs. Scott, £70 14s.; Mrs. O'Harte, £152; and Mrs. Williams, £85, and will he give instructions to have these claims investigated and paid as early as possible.

The accounts of Mr. Corbett and Mrs. Mullen are now being settled. The others are still under examination. Any necessary investigation will be expedited.
