Vol. 3 No. 7

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - INCOME TAX ON DÁIL SALARIES.

asked the Minister for Finance whether in the forthcoming Finance Bill he will incorporate provisions designed to protect from claims for Income tax the salaries and wages of persons employed by or under the authority of Dáil Eireann during the period from 21st January, 1919, to 10th January, 1922, inasmuch as those salaries and wages were granted to the recipients on the express or implied understanding that the payments would not be subject to Income tax, whereas the present practice of the Inland Revenue authorities is to claim Income tax thereon.

It is not proposed to introduce any such legislation as is suggested by the Deputy.

Arising out of that answer, may I put the Minister a case in point?

May I ask a question?
