CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - BALLALY WATER SCHEME.

asked the Minister for Local Government how soon he expects to be in a position to issue a Provisional Order respecting the Ballaly Water Scheme submitted by the Rathdown Rural District Council, and, whether, pending the passing of Standing Orders dealing with the Private Bills and Provisional Orders, he will submit a Resolution to the Dáil in respect of the proposed scheme, so that work may be pushed forward as quickly as possible.

The Provisional Order in regard to this matter is being prepared and will be ready for issue almost immediately. I understand that the preparation of the Standing Orders dealing with Private Bills and Provisional Orders is nearing completion and that it will be possible to have the Provisional Order confirmed under these Orders without undue delay. If, however, the adoption of the Standing Orders should be delayed for any considerable time, in view of the fact that the necessary local inquiry into the Scheme has been held, I shall consider whether the Provisional Order may not be confirmed by ordinary Public Bill. It will be understood that the latter course can be adopted only if I am satisfied that the Bill is likely to go through without opposition.
