asked the Minister for Defence what is the reason for the detention of Mr. Edward McManus, who was arrested in Clones on or about April 20th, and whether the Minister would be prepared to order his early release, in view of the fact that Mr. McManus has been arrested on two previous occasions, and subsequently released, and after having lost considerably in salary, he has now been deprived of his employment.

After his release previously McManus was kept under observation, and as a result he was rearrested for suspicious behaviour. The circumstances of the case have been carefully considered, and, it is regretted, it is not considered advisable to release him.
