Vol. 3 No. 17

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ ORAL ANSWERS. ] - ROADS ADVISORY COMMITTEE.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, in view of his answer given in reply to a question by Deputy Figgis that the Ministry of Transport Act, 1919, has, since the 4th October last, in so far as it affected roads, bridges, ferries, vehicles, and traffic thereon, been administered by his Department, any and what steps have been or are about to be taken to appoint a Roads Advisory Committee, as required by Section 22, and a panel of experts, as required by Section 23 (1) of the Act now being administered by him.

A Roads Advisory Committee will be set up, and I have addressed the various interests concerned asking them to submit such representations as they may consider necessary with regard to the constitution of the Committee which it is proposed to appoint. Section 23 appears to relate primarily to transport other than road transport, so that it would seem that the appointment of the panel of experts referred to is one for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
