Vol. 3 No. 28

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - A LISGOOLD INCIDENT.

SEAN O DUINNIN

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that, on Sunday, 10th inst., soldiers travelling from Midleton to Fermoy, when driving past people returning from Mass at Lisgoold, terrorised the people, and frightened horses, by firing shots indiscriminately in the air; further, whether, on or near the village of Ballincurring, there was a burst of machine-gun fire by the same soldiers, which seriously wounded a boy named O'Reilly, who was standing in his door, and also wounding a brother of O'Reilly's; to ask that disciplinary measures be taken in respect of these occurrences, and whether compensation will be paid to the injured parties, and by whom.

Enquiries are being made into these allegations, but they have not yet been-completed.
