Vol. 6 No. 13

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - NEWBRIDGE PHOTOGRAPHER'S ACCOUNT.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a sum of £65 16s 0d is due to Mr. Michael Finnerty, Newbridge, for photographing 653 soldiers at Curragh Camp, and that although Captain Redmond, Quartermaster, has certified the account as correct, and bills have been furnished twice, Mr. Finnerty has not yet been paid, and whether instructions will be given to have this account paid without further delay.

Mr. Finnerty's account is being considered with a view to a settlement at a very early date.

Arising out of that answer, may I ask why it was necessary to have 653 soldiers photographed and why £65 of the public funds should be spent on photographs?

It was in connection with identity passes at a time when it was considered that identity passes of a particular kind were necessary
