Vol. 6 No. 25

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - ACCOMMODATION FOR GÁRDA SÍOCHÁNA AT DRUMLISH.

asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether it is the intention of the Government to commandeer any house in the village of Drumlish, Co. Longford, for a Gárda Síochána Barracks, and if he is aware that the premises in which the Gárda Síochána are quartered at present have been recently inspected by a Board of Works Inspector, and if he can state whether the premises are suitable for a permanent barracks.

Mr. O'HIGGINS

From the information at present before me it would appear that the house now occupied by the Gárda Síochána at Drumlish is unsuitable as a permanent station, and if suitable alternative accommodation cannot be obtained by agreement, it may become necessary to utilise the powers of compulsory acquisition. The matter is at present receiving the attention of the Commissioners of Public Works, whose report I have not yet received.
