Vol. 6 No. 40

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - BALLINA ARREST.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Thos. Finnerty, Ardsally, Ballina, was arrested at a meeting on the eve of the last general election and has since been detained, though others arrested with him on the same occasion were released; whether he is aware that since the date of his arrest his father died and his mother and sister are now entirely dependent on him; and whether in the circumstances he is prepared to release Mr. Finnerty.

I am not prepared to release Mr. Finnerty at present. His case is, however, under consideration.
