Vol. 130 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Pig Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that many farmers in North Kerry are unable to obtain the price of 240/- per cwt. dead weight for pigs as promised by him in reply to a question on the 25th March, 1952; and, if so, whether he will take such steps as are necessary to ensure that these farmers will at least obtain this price for their pigs.

Mr. Walsh

As regards the first part of the Deputy's question, my information is that the bacon factories serving the North Kerry area are not paying less than 240/- per cwt. dead weight for suitable pigs.

As regards the second part, I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question by Deputy Lehane on 27th March.
