Vol. 7 No. 6

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - DEPENDENTS' ALLOWANCE (CO. KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Mrs. Anna O'Brien, of Ovidstown, Straffan, Co. Kildare, wife of Sergeant O'Brien, Army No. 13377, A.M.C., has not yet been paid a sum of £5 2s. Od. dependents' allowance in respect of her husband's service for the period 2nd February to the 19th April, 1924; further, if it is a fact that a reference to the cheques sent to her will justify her claim, and, if so, whether he will order payment.

I am not aware that the sum mentioned is due to Mrs. O'Brien in respect of dependents' or marriage allowance for the period stated. The account in respect of dependents' allowance was paid at the rate of 8s. a day up to the 14th February, 1924, the date of Sergeant O'Brien's re-attestation. Marriage allowance has been issued from that date to the 3rd instant at the rate of 5s. 6d. a day.
