Vol. 7 No. 6

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - DEPENDENTS' ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence whether a claim for arrears of pay and dependents' allowance has been received from Mr. Alphonsus Daly, late No. 39640, Motor Transport Driver, and, if so, when it will be dealt with.

A claim for arrears of pay has been received from Mr. Daly, and will be settled at an early date. The claim for dependents' allowance was rejected on the grounds that there was no evidence to show that the sum contributed by Mr. Daly to his home over and above the cost of his own maintenance for a reasonable period prior to enlistment amounted to the minimum required by the regulations, 12s. per week, before an allowance might be issued.
