Vol. 7 No. 18

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - BUILDING GRANT FOR CO. GALWAY SCHOOL.

asked the Minister for Education if he can say whether a building grant has been sanctioned for the purpose of erecting a new school at Cloughbrack, Clonbur, Co. Galway; whether he has yet received authority to proceed with building operations, and, if not, whether he will see that, in view of the dilapidated condition of the existing school, permission will be immediately given to commence work on the new structure.

It is not intended to erect a new schoolhouse to replace the existing Cloughbrack School, but the question of sanctioning a grant for the improvement of the present building, conditional upon the premises being vested in trustees for school purposes, is under consideration.

The manager has been asked to obtain the assent of the Land Commission in whom the school site and the adjoining land is vested, to the leasing of the school plot to trustees. When this assent has been obtained it is hoped to sanction a grant in the case.
