Vol. 7 No. 23

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MOUNTMELLICK CLAIM FOR DEPENDENTS ALLOWANCE.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received repeated applications for payment of dependents allowance on behalf of John Gorman, Mountmellick, Leix, late 2nd Battalion, Roscrea, No. 16517, who served from March, 1922, to February, 1924, and if he will state the reason for delay or give immediate instructions for payment of whatever amount is due in this case.

Only one application appears to have been received from Mr. Gorman. It was disallowed after due investigation, on the ground that there was no evidence to show that the extent of the dependence of his father on him prior to enlistment amounted to the minimum required by regulations, namely, 12s. per week, before an allowance might be issued.
