Vol. 7 No. 23

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - GEASHILL SCHOOL TEACHER'S CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Defence if he has received several applications from Patrick J. Whelan, Geashill National School, Offaly, for compensation for property taken from and damage done to a building and field during the period from August, 1922, to December, 1923, when military were in occupation, and if he can state when he will be in a position to announce a decision in this case.

A claim has been received from Mr. Patrick J. Whelan in respect of property stated to have been taken and damage done by troops.

The claim is being dealt with by the Office of Public Works, which Department deals with claims of this type on behalf of the Army, and I am informed that an offer in full settlement will be made to Mr. Whelan within a week.
