Vol. 7 No. 24

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - CURRAGH CAMP CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES.

asked the Minister for Defence whether the civilian employees engaged at the Curragh Camp under the Board of Works have received an intimation from that Department that its responsibility for the employment of these civilians will cease at the end of this month, and if he will state what arrangements have been made for the continuance of the employment of these civilians.

It was originally arranged that the works and other services on which these civilians were employed at the Curragh by the Board of Works should be taken over from that Department by the Army Corps of Engineers as from the 1st April last. Circimstances prevented the transfer at that date, but the transfer of services has now been arranged to take effect from the 1st prox. On such transfer, the civilians employed by the Board of Works will be taken over by the Army Corps of Engineers and the wages of the men will then be paid by the Army Authorities instead of by the Board of Works.
