Vol. 8 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - SOLDIER'S CLAIM FOR PAY.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that Joseph Quigley, Dublin Road, Nenagh, late Volunteer, Tipperary No. 1 Brigade, 3rd Southern Division, was arrested at Silvermines, Nenagh, on August 31st, 1922, on a charge of mutiny; that he was tried in Roscrea on September 28th, 1922, Colonel Hoolan presiding, and found not guilty, and released on October 27th, 1922; whether, although he continued to serve in the Army until discharged in April, 1923, the Paymaster refused to pay him for the time he was detained, and whether he will arrange to have this man paid without further delay.

Enquiries are being made in the case of Mr. Quigley. I regret that they are not yet completed, but I will communicate with the Deputy concerning the matter as soon as possible.
