Vol. 8 No. 15

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - MULLINGAR R.I.C. MAN'S CLAIM.

SEAN O LAIDHIN

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether pension or compensation has been granted to Michael Foley, Bishopsgate Street, Mullingar, an ex-constable of the R.I.C., No. 56858, who resigned on August 14th, 1920, after twenty-five and a half years' service.

Constable Michael Foley retired on a pension of £123 10s. 0d. on 20th August, 1920, after twenty-five and a half years' service. The Committee of Inquiry considered his application, but did not report it to the Government as one in which it considered that the resignation was caused by national sympathies. The Minister for Finance regrets that he cannot issue a certificate under Section 5 of the Superannuation and Pensions Act, 1923, which would render him eligible for an increase of pension.

Can the Minister say when he will supply Deputies with the names of ex-R.I.C. men to whom compensation awards have been made?

We got them a fortnight ago.

All who were here got them.

The names have been circulated.
