Vol. 8 No. 19

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. [ORAL ANSWERS.] - REDUCTION OF CROSS-CHANNEL SERVICES.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that it is contemplated by the London, Midland, and Scottish Railway to reduce the steamship service between Greenore and Holyhead to three sailings per week for goods traffic, and to discontinue entirely the passenger service, and whether having regard to the serious unemployment this would cause in the district and the inconvenience to traders, he will have enquiries made, and, if necessary, make representations with a view to the continuance of the present service.

I am not aware of the proposed reduction in the steamship service between Greenore and Holyhead, but I am making enquiries, and will communicate later with the Deputy.
