Vol. 8 No. 22

CEISTEANNA.—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - WAR COMPENSATION COURT.

asked the President whether, at the recent conference in London, any agreement was arrived at with regard to setting up the War Compensation Court in this country.

Following the recent conference in London, I have today received notification of agreement on the part of the British Government with proposed terms of settlement as regards the payment of compensation in matters such as those with which the War Compensation Court is concerned. The arrangement contemplates that awards should be made in due course by the Wood Renton Commission. While this matter is, therefore, now settled in principle, there are some minor details which still need to be adjusted, but it is expected that these can be arranged without delay.

Will the President state when the terms of settlement will be made public?

I hope, before the end of the month, that we will be able to arrange that.

On the last occasion, I asked the President whether he would circulate to Deputies copies of the report made by the Judicial Commission if such were furnished to him by the British Government and he promised that the copies would be circulated. We have not yet received them. The form in which we have the report is not easily referable and I would like to ask the President when will we have such copies?

The Deputy did not give me notice about this question. I hope to look into it and to communicate with the Deputy in the course of a week.
