Vol. 9 No. 1

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - COST OF LIVING FIGURE.

asked the President if he will state the present cost of living figure over pre-war, and if it is proposed to take any steps to reduce the cost of living in the Saorstát.

The cost of living figure in July last was 183 as compared with 100 for August, 1914. The figure for the current month is at present being calculated. It is expected that advantage will be taken of the facilities afforded by Section 2 of the Trade Loans (Guarantee) Act, 1924, to bring about reductions in the retail prices of essential commodities.
