asked the Minister for Defence if his Department has received a complaint from Mr. J.J. Kearney, of Coolgarranroe, Burncourt, that a bicycle which was his property was taken by the military at the time of his arrest on 8th March, 1923; if he is aware that this bicycle has not been returned, and if he will have inquiries made, and if the facts are as stated, whether Mr. Kearney will be compensated for the loss of his bicycle.

Mr. Kearney's complaint was duly investigated. The officers who were present at his arrest are positive that a bicycle was not taken by troops on the occasion. In the circumstances, the question of compensation cannot be considered.
