Vol. 9 No. 10

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - NENAGH SOLDIER'S CLAIM.

DOMHNALL O MUIRGHEASA

asked the Minister for Defence whether he has received several applications from Mr. John Ayres, Connolly Street, Nenagh, for the sum of £22 10s. 0d. proficiency pay due to him for service in the National Army for the period 21st August, 1923 to the 11th March, 1924, and, if so, whether he will arrange to have payment made without delay.

Three applications have been received from Mr. Ayres, based on the fact that for a time he was in receipt of additional remuneration. Such remuneration was issued to him, not as additional pay in accordance with regulations, but as an ex-gratia payment for special work during a particular period. He is not entitled to the pay for which he has applied.
