Vol. 9 No. 14

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. ORAL ANSWERS. - ENNISCORTHY COMPENSATION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance if repeated applications have been made to his Department by Mr. John Whelan, Vinegar Hill Hotel, Enniscorthy, for payment of compensation due for injuries to motor cars by British Forces in 1920 and 1921.

I am not aware of the fact that repeated applications have been made, as stated by the Deputy, but an award made by the Compensation (Ireland) Commission at the end of August last in favour of the person named in the question was paid within a month of its receipt from the Commission. The award referred to was for £80 and was in respect of a claim for £1,065 for compensation for the commandeering of cars and damage during raids by Crown Forces in July and August, 1920.

There is not, as far as I can ascertain, any further sum due to the claimant at present.
