Vol. 9 No. 21

WRITTEN ANSWERS. - CARRIGTWOHILL COMPENSATION CLAIM.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the application by the relatives of Richard Flynn, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork, who was shot by British Forces in May, 1921, for compensation, has been refused by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Commission; whether this is not a claim to be met under the arrangement arrived at between the Saorstát and British Governments.

I am aware that the application referred to by the Deputy was refused by the Compensation (Personal Injuries) Committee on the ground that there was no dependency of the applicant upon the deceased. The arrangement arrived at between the Saorstát and British Governments applies only to cases in which recommendations for payment of compensation are made by the Committee.
